Webinar: SEL and Mindfulness are Keys to a Healthier You

You are an educator. You are on duty 52 weeks a year. You have a demanding job, as well as personal responsibilities. You are on constant overload. Being an educator can be a very emotionally taxing job. You are not immune to the effects of stress. This webinar shares how educators can empower themselves with the effective SEL and mindfulness tools to identify triggers, as well as practical approaches and coping strategies, that are essential to overall physical and emotional health.

Carla Tantillo Philibert is a recognized expert on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), mindfulness and yoga practices in the school setting. She is the founder of Mindful Practices, co-founder of Class Catalyst and oversees a team of dedicated practitioners who have served thousands of students and teachers across the country since 2006. Carla has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and is a certified yoga teacher. She is a regular, featured speaker at CEC, NAESP and the Kripalu Yoga in School Symposium. Carla travels across the country to present at AASA, NSBA, NCE or keynote conferences, such as ILCEC. She is the author of Cooling Down Your Classroom: Using Yoga, Relaxation and Breathing Strategies to Help Students Learn to Keep Their Cool, Everyday SEL in Elementary School: Integrating Social-Emotional Learning and Mindfulness in Your Classroom (Routledge, 2016), Everyday SEL in Middle School: Integrating Social-Emotional Learning and Mindfulness in Your Classroom (Routledge, 2016), Everyday SEL in Early Childhood and Everyday SEL in High School (Routledge, 2017).

This webinar was offered in partnership with Literacy Organizational Capacity Initiative (LOCI). LOCI works with schools and districts to build their internal capacity for growth in literacy teaching and learning. LOCI’s work focuses on developing research-tested literacy strategies and the organizational capacity assets needed to sustain them.
