Empowered Teams

About empowered teams

Collaborating Differently

CEC knows that the predictors with the highest likelihood of success in schools are:

  1. The effectiveness of the adults working together.
  2. The quality of the school culture.
  3. Teacher teams spend time on high-leverage collaboration.

When school staff employ a learner-centered mindset across critical practice areas, good things happen! High-leverage teams collaborate and make shared decisions to increase student growth. The design of CEC’s Empowered Teams program provides tools, protocols, and processes for the adults in a school system to identify collective solutions around the whole child.

A Proven Process

This professional learning experience aims to build sustainable leadership for high-leverage teacher teams at school sites. This learning is centered around three modules:

  • Focus on Collaboration – predictable structures for school-based collaborative teams and teacher-level teams
  • Focus on Learning – the capacity of these teams to effectively analyze triangulated data to advance high-rigor learning and instructional strategies for all students
  • Focus on Results – shared accountability practices to monitor data and modify strategies continuously

Building Leadership Capacity

CEC’s end outcome is to increase the key leader(s)’s (principal, assistant principal, teacher leader) capacity to orchestrate equitable, inclusive practices and decision-making processes that lead to more students reaching their full potential. The focus of this service is on enhancing the leadership skills of all those involved regardless of job role, but with special attention being made to the site leader(s) so they can empower teachers to own the work. We have aligned our sessions to the learning-centered leadership framework Vanderbilt Assessment of Leadership in Education (VAL ED). VAL ED is nationally recognized and normed to ISLLC Standards and reflects leadership centered on inclusive and equitable practices for school leaders.

CEC’s Empowered Teams Process

Effective teams continuously collaborate for increased student growth. The purpose of this Professional Learning experience is to begin by developing district or school-based collaborative teams and team structures. We then build the capacity of these teams to collaboratively and effectively analyze data in order to determine goals (GANS, Greatest Area Of Need) and targets then identify research-based strategies to address goal areas using the DIAS (Data-Informed Plan, Implement, Analyze, Systematize) cycle. These collaborative teams will then learn to monitor data continuously and modify strategies as needed.

This service is configured to support District (DLT), School (SLT), and Teacher (Teacher) teams in a school system.
