Jim Hammack

Strategic Advisor

Jim Hammack is a Strategic Advisor for the Catalyst for Educational Change.  In this role, he will assist school districts in systems and school improvement work  including strategic planning, continuous improvement models, leadership coaching, empowered teams, and collective agreements.  

Jim has an extensive and successful background as a school superintendent, high school principal and assistant principal, high school English teacher, and varsity baseball coach.  His comprehensive instructional leadership and coherent systems work has resulted in significant gains in learning throughout his leadership career. Beyond his district and schools work, he has presented at state and national conferences on comprehensive models for continuous improvement, leadership coaching, and instructional leadership.    

Jim received his Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, Illinois and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.  He has participated in advanced training from the Institute for Superintendents and District Leaders, Managing Evidence, and Change Leadership through the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Instructional Leadership from the Center for Educational Leadership at the University of Washington, and numerous improvement science workshops from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
