Karen Osmanski Consultant

Karen joined CEC in 2013 and serves as a coach/consultant to districts and schools in the area of Improvement Planning. For the past two years, her work has centered on training State, district and school-based teams in the Illinois School Improvement process Rising Star. She also served on the Illinois State Board of Education’s Rising Star Design Team. This team was responsible for designing and delivering State-wide training in the process of school improvement as well as use of the tool Rising Star. She has served as an external Rising Star school improvement coach for several elementary and high school districts through the Statewide System of Support. Karen was a past teacher, District-wide Continuous Improvement Facilitator, and elementary school principal, all in the state of Illinois. Her areas of expertise fall under creating a culture for improvement and aligning school processes to overarching aims and goals.

As a school leader, she partnered with the Consortium for Education Change to align the work of the school to the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. During her tenure, the school received State improvement recognition and US Department of Education National Blue Ribbon recognition.

Karen holds an Illinois Type 75 Educational Certificate from Northeastern Illinois University(1999), a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University(1995) and a Bachelor of Arts degree, Early Childhood Major, from Northeastern Illinois University(1974).
