Colleen joined CEC in 2015 as a consultant focusing on teaching and learning in the areas of science and literacy. She has 11 years of school leadership and teaching experience in both urban and suburban schools. Colleen has experience as a curriculum director, department chair, literacy liaison, classroom teacher, co-teacher, PLC leader, and mentor teacher. In her time as a curriculum director, she facilitated the design and implementation of a standards-based, integrated curriculum across all academic disciplines. Her work as a literacy liaison allowed her opportunities to facilitate sessions both within the school and at the state and national level.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science Education from The University of Iowa, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University Chicago, and is anticipating a graduate certificate in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in April of 2017.
Colleen uses principles of adult learning, motivation, and relevant instructional theories and frameworks in her teaching and learning consulting. Colleen’s graduate work in instructional design also encompasses e-learning design and development, including the development of SCORM compliant reusable learning objects and instructional design/e-learning project management.More CEC Staff & Consultants
