Many districts have gone through a process to review the Common Core Standards but are finding that they are still not able to make the “shift” that it requires.
CEC provides professional learning on a process of collaborative thinking around the learning trajectory needing to be evidenced by students in order to achieve an overall standard. This process produces artifacts to document these teaching and learning trajectories as part of a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
CEC also provides training on how to use these learning trajectories, or “learning ladders,” as the foundation for standards-based units of instruction. Standards-based design includes critical unit components such as essential questions, learning targets, key vocabulary, aligned resources, differentiation and instructional practices.
