The Consortium for Educational Change (CEC) has been approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as an IL-EMPOWER Learning Partner. This means schools participating in IL-EMPOWER can choose CEC as their Learning Partner.
CEC met the comprehensive requirements to provide services in ALL three “drivers” of system change identified by IL-EMPOWER. Those include:
- Governance and Management
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Climate and Culture
This continues a more than 30-year tradition of CEC serving as a high quality partner in empowering students through learning.
IL-EMPOWER is the structure for a new statewide system for schools identified as “Comprehensive Support and Improvement Schools” and “Targeted Support and Improvement Schools” as part of the new ESSA accountability system. CEC will use its research-based, experience-tested approach to school improvement in its role as an approved Learning Partner in order to build the capacity of educators, leaders, and systems to improve student outcomes.
While ISBE is working out the details on how IL-EMPOWER will operate, CEC is interested in meeting with districts and schools looking to utilize a collaborative approach to school improvement through IL-EMPOWER. These initial meetings will help schools find the right partner in this critical work and be prepared for the launch of IL-EMPOWER in the 2018-19 school year.
